Course Description 

This course is designed for University of Arizona undergraduate and graduate students, as well as UA faculty and other employees who seek to modify their foreign accent. The in-class and homework activities are designed to facilitate development of an American English (AE) accent with expected outcomes of improved intelligibility, comprehensibility, and reduced “accentedness” in English pronunciation. 

Course Format and Teaching Methods 

The course consists of small group and individual experiential-learning activities accompanied by brief lectures. In addition to the course meeting time, a weekly individual meeting (1 hour) will be scheduled with a graduate clinician. Home practice is required as it is an integral part of the course.
