SPRING 2018 WRITING WORKSHOP SERIES

Purpose: Provide writing support for ABD (all but dissertated) students, discuss shared concerns about the dissertation process, and introduce strategies to facilitate writing. All participants should come prepared to write and work collaboratively with peers from diverse disciplines. Coffee, tea, water, and light snacks will be provided, as will pens and ruled notepads.

Can't attend in person? No worries. All workshops have online attendance capability.

Thursday, January 25 (4:30pm-6:30pm), Science-Engineering Library, Room 311

Topic: Literature Review 2.0: Synthesizing Information

Description: In this graduate writing workshop for ABD students, we will discuss how to synthesize information gathered from secondary sources, including how and when to paraphrase and use direct quotations.

Topic: Revision and Grammar Special Topic: Sentence Fluency

Description: In this graduate writing workshop for ABD students, we will focus on issues that interfere with sentence-level fluency, including grammar patterns, transitions, and sentence structure. Please bring a short sample of your writing (either hardcopy or on a laptop) with you to this workshop.
