The University of Arizona/Sloan Indigenous Graduate Partnership (UA/SIGP) scholarship application process entails:
- the completion of the UA/SIGP Scholarship Application, link listed below.
- If selected by the University of Arizona scholarship review committee, applicants will be invited to complete a Sloan Foundation Scholarship Application through the Sloan Scholars Network (SSN) portal system. SSN manages the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation's Sloan Indigenous Graduate Partnership's forms (funding requests/academic reports) and documentation. Once the Sloan Foundation Scholarship Application is approved, final awardee notification will be provided by SSN.
Application Criteria:
Applications will be reviewed for all students who have been accepted into a residential STEM graduate program at the University of Arizona and who are a U.S. citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee. Canadian-born Native Americans who meet specific criteria under the Jay Treaty of 1794 are also eligible. The SIGP program is open to all regardless of race or ethnicity.
- have regular admission to an approved main-campus graduate program in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) at the University of Arizona (other campuses, e.g. on-line, accelerated or professional programs are not eligible);
- enroll for a minimum of six (6) graduate units each semester of the award;
- make satisfactory progress toward the degree for funding in years 2 and beyond;
- demonstrate financial need.
Preparation to complete the UA/SIGP scholarship application
- Be ready to input your 8-digit UA Student Identification (aka SID or EMPLID) number.
- Prospective Students: Your SID is assigned to your profile after submitting a graduate application in GradApp.
- Enrolled Students: Your SID is listed in your UAccess Student Center profile. - Be prepared to upload a copy of your responses to the following Application prompts:
(100 MB limit, allowed types of files: txt, rtf, pdf, doc, docx).
- Please describe how you might contribute to one or more of the SIGP mission goals described above through your scholarship, teaching, service, or leadership. You may discuss any knowledge or insights you have gained that might help you advance the SIGP mission. This could include knowledge gained either informally through lived experience, service activities, dedicated personal learning or through formal coursework and research.
- Please describe how you might contribute to and benefit from belonging to an SIGP community of scholars.
