Bernard Brefo Cassie is a doctoral student in the Second Language Acquisition and Teaching program. He comes from Ghana, West Africa, and holds an M.A. in TESL from the University of Arizona, as well as a B.A. in English and Political Science from the University of Ghana. He has taught first-year writing classes at both universities. In 2018, Bernard won a Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) scholarship, allowing him to work as a research assistant at the Justus Liebig University in Germany, where he developed an interest in his current areas of research. His research interests include corpus linguistics, technology-enhanced language learning, and second language writing. In his free time, Bernard enjoys watching basketball, playing video games, and taking walks.
