Joy Kuhlo

Joy Kuhlo is the Communications Graduate Assistant for the Peace Corps Coverdell Fellows, where she supports projects that connect Fellows and advance the Coverdell mission to “bring Peace Corps service home.” She is also a current Coverdell Fellow pursuing a Master of Science in Urban Planning (MSUP) and a Master of Real Estate Development (MRED).
In addition to her role with the Graduate Center, Joy works with the Drachman Institute on applied research in affordable housing. Her academic and professional interests center on equitable and sustainable housing solutions, including the integration of social services into affordable housing and alternative forms of homeownership such as Community Land Trusts. With a background in the Peace Corps and in housing nonprofits, she is committed to addressing systemic inequities through realistic, culturally sensitive approaches that promote long-term community impact.
Outside of her academic and professional work, Joy enjoys spending time near water, and solving the New York Times crossword.
