Alex Miera

Alex is a doctoral student in the Optical Sciences graduate program, specializing in sensors. She grew up in Albuquerque, NM, where her brother and parents inspired her to pursue sensor research, particularly for rehabilitation and medical monitoring devices. She graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor's degree in electrical & computer engineering. In addition to sensors, she is passionate about the intersections between community, art, and STEM. In her free time, she enjoys going to concerts, hiking, camping, slacklining, climbing, playing board games, and playing video games with friends and family.
