Ashley Martin-Casler is a doctoral student in the Applied Intercultural Arts Research Graduate Interdisciplinary Program. From Tucson, AZ, by way of Cherry Hill, NJ, Ashley attended Spelman College, the University of Arizona (UA), and Northern Arizona University (NAU), earning a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the UA and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and a graduate certificate in Ethnic Studies from NAU. She taught in the Tucson Unified School District for nine years as a music educator and arts integration specialist with the Opening Minds Through the Arts program. Her work explores the intersections of music, culture, health, and community wellness, particularly how music can affect social change and positively impact public health. Outside of her research, Ashley enjoys reading, cooking, and being in nature.
