Emily Foley is a doctoral student in the Applied Mathematics Graduate Interdisciplinary Program. Her research interests include applied numerical analysis, partial differential equations, and scientific computing, particularly with applications to physics and astronomy. Emily earned B.S. degrees in physics and mathematics from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. During her undergraduate career, she participated in a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at the University of Minnesota’s school of physics and astronomy and a Summer Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) funded by the US Department of Energy at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Emily is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota. In her free time, she enjoys drawing and painting, raising monarch butterflies, reading, and hiking.
