Jiayi serves as the Special Projects Graduate Assistant at the Graduate Center, leading initiatives that are aligned with the Graduate Center's diverse mission. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from Sichuan University, a Master's degree in Vocal Performance from Sichuan Conservatory of Music, and a second Master's in Music Education from Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Currently, Jiayi is pursuing a PhD in Music Education with a minor in Applied Interdisciplinary Arts-based Research at the University of Arizona. Her interests include the comparative impact of Eastern and Western philosophies on music education, the educational philosophies of Confucianism and Dewey, high-stakes accountability policy, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Beyond her academic pursuits, Jiayi takes pleasure in savoring coffee, immersing herself in the world of music, exploring movies, delving into books, and embracing a variety of physical activities such as table tennis, badminton, and swimming
