Juan Garrido-Deutelmoser is a doctoral student in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics. Originally from Molina, Chile, Juan graduated with BS and MS degrees in Astrophysics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He is especially interested in planetary formation and works with Dr. Kaitlin Kratter researching the characteristics of gravitational instabilities in circumstellar discs, the mix of gas, dust, and other matter which orbit a star. Before pursuing astronomy, he worked in a variety of fields from carpentry to agriculture. He has four loves: science, Colo-Colo, family, and cumbia villera.
