Santiago is a doctoral student in Environmental Science. Originally from the central Andes of Colombia,he holds a B.Eng. and an MA in Environmental Engineering from the Universidad de Antioquia. His research addresses global terrestrial ecosystems’ distribution and dynamics in a changing world, particularly in the case of tropical forests and savannas, which play a fundamental role in global carbon, water and biodiversity. Santiago is especially interested in ecohydrology of the tropical Andes region. He enjoys hiking, cycling, cooking, and gardening.
