Thania Brinks Zuñiga is a doctoral student in Environmental Health Sciences. She has a Master of Public Health with a focus on One Health and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Arizona. Originally from Sinaloa, Mexico, her experience as an immigrant is influential in her desire to work with underserved communities. Her research interests are waterborne illness, vector-borne illness, water access, and the impacts of climate change. Her research work has focused on water quality, access, and climate change along the US-Mexico border and in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. When she is not enjoying walks with her two dogs, Mojo Jojo and Ruth, she is a practitioner of Krav Maga, having earned a rank of Level 3 while also dabbling in other combat sports.
