Preparing for Faculty Job Applications Series
This Fall series of participatory workshops focuses on the academic job market and addresses topics such as writing teaching, research, and diversity statements; creating ePortfolios and managing your online presence; and preparing for interviews.
Preparing for Business and Nonprofit Job Application Series
This Spring series of participatory workshops focuses on careers beyond academia and addresses topics such as developing efficient job search strategies; creating your LinkedIn profile and professional connections; tailoring job materials for specific jobs; and preparing for different types of interviews.
Spring 2025 Alumni Career Chat Series
The Graduate Center hosts alumni career chats to help you explore career pathways our alumni have taken and to share strategies for getting established in your field of choice.
Start Smart Salary and Negotiation Workshops
A workshop series that covers how to establish salary goals; the impact of the gender pay gap; effective interviewing; and negotiating job offer strategies. The program is a collaboration with the Tucson chapter of the American Association of University Women.
Graduate Career Groups
The Graduate Center hosts a series of graduate student career support groups to help you learn about diverse careers, create your professional LinkedIn profile and elevator pitch, and build confidence in your ability to create and maintain professional connections. The groups comprise a supportive, inclusive community of peers with career staff guidance.
Preparing for Federal Government Job Applications Series
This series brings in federal employers to share valuable insights about job opportunities, application processes, and career paths within the government sector.
Graduate Career Courses
Career Fair Prep Program
This free and fully online asynchronous program for graduate students launches one month before the fall and spring semester career fairs and provides information, guidance, and resources on researching employers and job opportunities, preparing tailored resumes, crafting a self-introduction, and developing plans for conversing with employers at and after the fair.
Introduction to Graduate Careers
In this online, asynchronous, self-paced program, you learn strategies for researching and identifying careers beyond the academy, creating professional connections, translating your transferable skills and experiences, developing application materials, and interviewing.

Fundamentals of Career Development and Planning

This course explores practical applications of leadership, communication, and decision-making in the context of career development. Students will examine personal and professional qualities essential for successful career advancement, including the development of effective planning, goal-setting, and decision-making strategies.
