This series of participatory workshops focuses on careers beyond academia and addresses topics such as creating your LinkedIn profile and professional connections, developing efficient job search strategies, tailoring job materials for specific jobs, and preparing for different types of interviews. The Graduate Center offers the series in the Spring semester.
- All workshops are FREE to attend and are facilitated through Zoom. The Zoom meeting link is provided after registration in Handshake.
- Materials from the series will be made available in the Preparing for Business, Nonprofit, and Government Job Applications Shared Folder. Use your UArizona email and password to access the folder.

Efficient & Effective Job Search Strategies for Careers in Business, Nonprofits, & Government

- One of the most challenging aspects of the job search is knowing how to find appropriate and interesting careers/jobs to apply for. Find out the best sources for job ads and how to create an effective job search list. You will design a career/job search plan that identifies the jobs that are most relevant for you to apply for and learn how to use this information to further inform your job searches, applications, and interviews as you enter the professional world.

Maximizing LinkedIn and Creating Professional Connections

- Use your online presence to your advantage to support your job qualifications and deliver a professional image. Companies are more likely to hire candidates they can find and view favorably online and who come with a peer referral. Come develop your professional profile and practice some simple strategies for creating and maintaining valuable professional connections. You will create a networking plan using LinkedIn and other avenues to help you develop a professional network.

Tailoring Resumes, CVs, and Cover Letters
- Wednesday, Feb 15, 5:30-6:30 PM
- Your job materials need to address the specific requirements for each job ad and how your transferable skills best fit employer needs. In this workshop, you will decode job ads and write bullets for your resume that clearly demonstrate your relevant transferable skills. Learn how to adapt your resume for each job ad so that employers easily recognize your fabulous skills and experiences!

Interview Preparation
- Wednesday, Feb 22, 5:30-6:30 PM
- There are several types or phases of interviews, and virtual interviewing is still prevalent. You will create your professional answers and practice some of the standard questions asked at every interview. We will examine strategies for preparing for virtual interviewing and additional phases of interviews. We will review the different types of interview questions for each phase and how to best prepare for each of these.
