Women in Science & Medicine (WIMS) is pleased to invite postdoctoral scholars to the Negotiations 101 Workshop featuring Dr. Anees Chagpar MD, MBA, MPH, FACS, FRCS(C), an expert in negotiation strategy and professional advancement.
In this interactive workshop, participants will not only learn evidence-based best practices in negotiation but will also further hone their skills by working through various real-life scenarios with fellow participants. Workshop will discuss keys to the four P's: preparation, practice, perspective, and post-settlement settlement, and how to "grow the pie" through integrative rather than positional bargaining.

Speaker bio
Dr. Anees Chagpar is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine and graduated at the top of her class with an executive MBA focused on leadership in healthcare. Since 2015, she has taught a myriad of negotiation workshops — at the AAMC MidWims, Johns Hopkins, the University of Pennsylvania, Yale, and others — bringing real-life experiences together with proven negotiation techniques to faculty and trainees. In 2019, she won the Joan Giambalvo Award for the Advancement of Women from the American Medical Association for transforming her in-person workshops into a virtual offering. She has rigorously tested the impact of her workshops using pre-/post-tests that have been published in peer-reviewed literature.
