2026 UROC Research Conference

The UROC Research Conference showcases the work of over 100 undergraduates participating in summer research programs at the University of Arizona over the course of two days. Day 1 has students presenting their research via 12-minute PowerPoint presentations. Day 2 is a poster session with guest programs across U of A.

Day 1 - Colloquium: Thursday, August 6 | 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM | Integrated Learning Center

Presentations will be 10-12 minutes with 3-5 minutes for Q&A. 

Presenters will be shown a timecard at 5 minutes, 2 minutes, 30 seconds, and Stop. 

It is recommended that participants attend at least the presentation before their scheduled time to ensure they are on time. 

The presentation should be saved as both a PowerPoint and a PDF on a USB. During the transition time between presentations, please go up to the moderator and let them know you're there and give the moderator the USB with your materials. The moderators will pull up the presentation on the screen, provide presenters with a clicker, and a microphone when available. 

Please wear the nametag that was provided at the UROC Welcome during the both days of the UROC Research Conference. 

 

After presenting, participants are expected to stay the whole day and attend other presentations. 

Participants do not need to stay in the same room they are presenting in. There are 5 minutes for transition time after each presentation. We encourage students to see presentations from other programs and support their cohort. Below is an example of the presentations with transition times.

Day 2 - Poster Session: Friday, August 7 | 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM | Health Sciences Innovation Building (HSIB)

Please join us in celebrating our UROC cohort completing their summer research programs! UROC hosts numerous undergraduate research and grad school preparation programs through a 10-week summer program. During the summer, the scholars worked tirelessly on their individual research projects with a U of A faculty mentor(s). 

Posters will be set up in the East Entrance inside the Forum.

Driving

The closest options for visitor parking during business hours are the Highland Garage or the Health Sciences Garage, both of which have hourly pay parking. There are also some Passport Street Parking on Cherry Avenue, between Adams St. and Drachman St. 

For guests with mobility accommodations, it is recommended they are dropped off at the roundabout on the north side of HSIB.

Public Transportation 

For those using the Sun Link, the nearest stop is number 18 on Helen St. 

The Purple and Green Cat Trans drop off at the roundabout just north of HSIB. 

12:00 -12:15 pm. This is a professional event, please dress accordingly. Sign in sheets are in the atrium before entering the ballroom. Poster display boards are grouped by programs. To find a specific program's area, please reference the poster map or ask the front desk attendants. 

Posters should be 36” H x 48” W. We reserve the right to not include any posters that do not adhere to the finished printed size. Staff will be on hand to help students put their posters up. T-pins and binder clips will be provided. No tacks/tape are allowed as they will damage the display boards. 

 

***All posters must be set up by 12:30 pm***

 

Once the poster is set up - Take pictures, hydrate, get a snack, put on your nametag from earlier in the summer or grab a temporary one at the check in desk! Be ready by 1:00 pm! 

Please try to keep walkways clear to make the space accessible for everyone! 

More information on storing personal belonging is forthcoming. 

Participants are expected to be by their posters for the whole session, unless they need to step away for a quick break. 

Participants should be ready to talk about their research to anyone who stops by and answer questions. 

All participants should take down their posters immediately and put the t-pins back in the display board, UROC staff will come around to collect them. Roll up the poster and put it back in the cardboard tube, if available. 


Day 2 - Closing Ceremony: Friday, August 7 | 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM | HSIB, Rm 305/306

The UROC students will celebrate the culmination of their hard work this summer with a certificate ceremony to close the summer programs. Light refreshments and appetizers will be provided.
