Reflect on your skills and prepare for your next step. The Graduate College Graduate Center invites all graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to complete the Career Readiness & Mobility Inventory for Fall 2026. 

Developed alongside the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), and with the support of Career Launch Academy, this 10-minute self-assessment helps you evaluate the core skills employers prioritize, clarify your professional development goals, and align your current academic training with your future career path. 

 

But why take it? What’s in it for you? 

  • Elevate your professional development strategy. By pinpointing your key strengths and uncovering actionable areas for growth, you will find it easier to align your academic experiences and training with your goals and the needs of employers. 

  • Help yourself, help others. The results from your inventory and other students’ inventories, will allow the Graduate Center enhance student resources, expanding and tailoring competency programming to match what you actually need.

It's as easy as signing up and getting started in minutes using your official U of A email address. You can start your 10-minute assessment now to get immediate feedback. 

 

What’s next after you take the assessment? 

After taking the assessment, reach out to a supervisor or former boss to get their evaluation of your skills. This will provide you with another perspective on how well-developed they are. Our team recommends sharing your results with your faculty mentor to discuss next steps based on your goals. 

Use your results alongside the Core Professional Competencies Model to recognize your current strengths, identify skills you would like to develop further, and explore campus programs and resources that can support your continued growth. You can also connect with a member of our Graduate Career Services for individualized career guidance, especially if you are preparing for a job search.
