💼 Fundamentals of Career Development and Planning

- Session: 7-Week Session 1
- Days/Time: Tuesdays, 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM
- Location: Graduate Center, Room 102
- Instructor: Associate Director of Graduate Career Services, Amanda Bogden
Explore practical applications of leadership, communication, and decision-making in career development for graduate-level talent. This course focuses on effective planning, goal-setting, and strategies for long-term career growth. Engage in self-assessment activities, identify career paths, and create a professional application portfolio tailored to your aspirations and industry needs.
📚 Dissertation Writing: Navigating the Dissertation Journey

- Session: General Academic Session
- Days/Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM
- Instructor: Dr. Shelley Hawthorne Smith
This course will guide you in completing a major portion of your dissertation (e.g., dissertation proposal, chapters) while helping you build healthy writing habits. Reflect on writing conventions in your discipline, map out your semester plan, and learn to advocate for your ideas, relationships, and timelines.

- Instructor: Dr. Celeste Atkins
Learn best practices in culturally inclusive mentoring through interactive learning, personal reflection, and relevant readings. Topics include addressing biases, navigating mentoring roles, and responding to microaggressions. By the end of the course, you will develop a personal mentoring philosophy and tools for empowering diverse researchers.

How to Register:
To register for any of the courses mentioned, log into UAccess Student Center, navigate to “Add/Drop/Swap Classes” under the “Enrollment” dropdown, select Spring 2025, scroll to the class search at the bottom of the page and type in subject and catalog number of the course you are interested in. Verify that you aren't enrolled in any conflicting courses, and click “Select,” then “Done.” The course will now appear in your Shopping Cart. To enroll, click the “Select to Enroll” button, and then the “Enroll in 1 Class” button. The course should then appear in your Spring 2025 Class Schedule!
