Dr. Vega serves as the Faculty Fellow for the University Fellows Program, in which she leads the first-year experience. She is also a Professor in the School Psychology program, where she is the Ph.D. Program Director & Faculty Chair. Dr. Vega’s research and teaching intersect to address the needs of students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. She is the co-editor of the forthcoming book, Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Intervention and Assessment Practices with Emergent Bilingual Students.

Dr. Vega is the recipient of numerous awards, including the APA Division 16 Outstanding Contributions to Mentorship Award  (2025), Mentoring Future Scholars Award from the UA (2025), Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentoring Award from the Graduate College (2021), the New Leader Award from the College of Education and Human Ecology Alumni Office, The Ohio State University (2023), and the Presidential Award for Exceptional Service to Children and School Psychology from the National Association of School Psychologists (2023).
