Dilara Avci is a doctoral student in the Second Language Acquisition & Teaching program. She completed her MA in Teaching English as a Second Language at the University of Arizona in 2023. Born in Turkey, she has taught English across diverse backgrounds and age levels, including K-12 and college. Dilara’s research interests are second language writing and material design with the application of innovative approaches such as genre pedagogy and corpus linguistics. She believes in the importance of sharing experiences and creating an inclusive learning environment and has been involved in a variety of professional development activities in writing and teaching. In 2022, she was honored with the University of Arizona Johnnie Raye Harper Teaching Award. In 2023, she received the Teaching with Technology Award in the Writing Program. Dilara enjoys baking, knitting, playing board games, and mostly watching the sunset at Mount Lemmon.
