Emely Espino Bardales
Emely Espino Bardales a doctoral student in the Human Development and Family Science program in the Norton School of Human Ecology. She grew up in East Los Angeles, California, and witnessed the struggles communities from different backgrounds faced, especially around culturally responsive mental health support. As a result, her research focuses on mental health in the Latine community and the creation of culturally competent resources to support the mental health needs of Latine adolescents and young adults. Her commitment to this work began in her first-year of undergraduate studies and she looks forward to her research supporting East L.A. and improving overall mental health support approaches. Outside of her academics, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and is a tarot card reader.
