Juliana Salazar is a doctoral student in Environmental Health Sciences. She earned her M.S. in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of Arizona. Originally from Ecuador, earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL). Juliana's research experience includes environmental projects focused on the impacts of microplastics in mangrove ecosystems and the accumulation of toxic metals in commercial fishes from the Galápagos Islands. Her doctoral research will investigate the effects of emerging contaminants on human health by studying their impacts on aquatic model organisms. Outside of research, she enjoys roller skating, photography, and hiking.
