Lisa Elmaleh

Lisa Elmaleh, originally from Miami, Florida, is an analog photographer, artist, and humanitarian. For the past 12 years, she has lived in a primitive, off-grid cabin in West Virginia. Her most recent body of work, Promised Land/Tierra Prometida, examines migration along the US- Mexico border, where she has been deeply involved in the migrant justice community since 2020. In 2024, Lisa received the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship for this work. She will continue to focus on examining migration along the US-Mexico border in her art practice during her time at the University of Arizona in the School of Art. Her first monograph, Everglades (Zatara Press, 2016), documents the effects of climate change on the South Florida landscape.
