Madalyn Chapleski is a doctoral student in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics. Originally from Ashburn, Virginia, she attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a BS in Astronomy-Physics. During her undergraduate studies, her research focused on understanding the weather on brown dwarfs by investigating how patchy clouds, temperature variations, and atmospheric chemistry shape the light we observe. At U of A, she is interested in exploring exoplanets around nearby stars to search for potential indicators of habitability. Her long-term goals are to make science more accessible to all as a researcher, mentor, and teacher. Outside of astronomy, Madalyn enjoys reading, running, and hiking.
